Originally designed to display the imperial numismatic collection, this room aquired it's current name of Knights' Hall after the Arms & Armor Collection was moved here. The hall, richly decorated to compensate the rather small coins and paper money, lends itself wonderfully to the currently exhibited collection of fiftenth to seventeenth centuries Western European Armor. As shown below, the Hermitage displays also one of the original 12 suits of armor ordered as a christmas present by Sophy, princess of Brandenburg and wife of Christian I, Elector of Saxony, made by Anton Pfeffenhäuser in 1591. Apparently WWII bootie, a large part of the former Berlin and Dresden colection remains in storage (inSt.Petersburg or Moscow?) and is not available for viewing. The current exhibit is part of the: Hermitage in St. Petersburg/ Russia
